Samhain Sessions

Soak up the sounds and the atmosphere as we bring you a diverse line-up of solo artists and bands including Roísín O and John Broe, Reevah and Conor Scott, from a range of musical genres, filmed in local cultural landmarks.

Episode 1 – ROE

ROE is 21-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Derry (Ireland), Roisin Donald. Laying down her unique brand of self-styled Dark Indie-Pop, she has been blazing a trail for young female indie artists across Ireland, UK, Europe and beyond.

Episode 2 – Conor Scott & Reevah

  • Runtime – 34 Minutes

Reevah

Derry based indie-folk artist, Reevah (Aoife Boyle) grew up surrounded by music and art. Self-releasing her debut EP ‘Hummingbird’ in June 2018, she followed this up performing with artists such as Lisa Hannigan and SOAK. Reevah’s music is designed to be immersive and reflective, but it’s her voice that resonates long after hearing it, and she is an artist to look out for.

Conor Scott

Belfast singer/songwriter Conor Scott dwells bang centre within the Indie-Pop-Folk-Rock spectrum and most definitely is an act to catch live. Either when standing solo with just an acoustic guitar displaying the emotive release of his balladic infused jams or with full band capturing a complete sonic & visual representation of infectious grooves and transcendental singalongs.

Episode 3 – Róisín O & John Broe

  • Runtime – 23 Minutes

Widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest vocalists, it has been Róisín O’s most recent releases that have finally caught the eye of the Irish public. Her cover of Selena Gomez’s ‘Lose You To Love Me’ earned rave reviews, whilst her involvement in Irish Women in Harmony’s cover of ‘Dreams’, saw her part of the collective that earned the first female No. 1 in the Irish Homegrown Chart. Having been part of Thanks Brother, with John Broe, Róisín’s solo career has also seen her release tracks such as ‘Give It Up’, and gain acclaim for her flawless, mesmerizing vocal range.

Episode 4 – Tebi Rex

  • Runtime – 31 Minutes

One of the most exciting Irish bands of any genre, Tebi Rex have emerged from the country’s acclaimed hip-hop scene to create a stir not only at home but in the US and UK via their high energy live show, radio friendly singles, witty videos and engaging social media presence. Their 2019 debut album ‘The Young Will Eat The Old’ – released via AWAL on the back of two memorable shows at The Great Escape – was lauded by the likes of The Irish Times, Dan Hegarty, The Line Of Best Fit, Hot New Hip-Hop and Today FM as one of the domestic releases of the year. The inclusion of ‘I Never Got Off The Bus’ on the soundtrack for global hit TV series Normal People has brought their music to a wider audience around the world, leading the way for a new mixtape in the autumn before another major project in 2021

St Cecilia’s College

  • Runtime – 5 Minutes
Pupils from St Cecilia’s College, Derry performing an arrangement of Radiohead’s classic hit Creep. This is showcased by Loren McLaughlin on lead vocals and Grace Flood and Lauren Doherty on backing vocals.

Foyle College

  • Runtime – 7 Minutes
Foyle College A-Level students will present and showcase two performances – Molly Hannaway on saxophone performing Waltz No.2 Shostakovich and Mia Bradley on vocals performing ‘Pulled – The Addams Family

Cora Harkin

  • Runtime – 5 Minutes
12 year Derry singer Cora Harkin’s is one of the city’s most promising young stars. Hear her spine-tingling performance of The Cranberries, hit song Zombie.
